Safety In Action

At Veit, we exemplify Safety In Action. All operations are guided by effective safety programs, including pre-project and daily pre-task planning to identify potential hazards on the jobsite. We are also committed to ongoing supervisor and employee training, and require all new employees to attend our new-hire safety orientation.

We’re proud of our experience modification rating, averaging .82 over the past five years. Every Veit project is strategically planned around safety procedures with a high level of internal and external tracking of all employees, from the office to the field.

Our commitment to our Written Safety Incentive Program, and Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program, in addition to prompt and thorough accident / incident investigations demonstrates that safety isn’t just a slogan: At Veit, it’s the way we do business.

Safety In Action means every project is subject to pre-project planning and a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) incorporating production, quality, and safety into a single daily meeting at the beginning of each shift. The result is project delivery that is on time, on budget, and safe.

Our comprehensive Recordable Incident Review program constantly evaluates recordable injuries in an effort to determine the root cause and eliminate the unsafe behavior in the future. These meetings include the injured employee, supervisors, safety personnel, and senior management. Information that is learned from these recordable incidents is then shared with other Veit employees through ongoing safety training programs.

Veit's Safety In Action culture has yielded numerous awards including Associated General Contractors of Minnesota Construction Health and Safety Excellence (CHASE) award, State of Minnesota Governor's Award for Achievement in Occupational Safety, Minnesota Laborers- Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET) award of Excellence for Safety Driven Union Contractor, and the OSHA VPP Star Award.

At Veit, safety isn't just a slogan: it's the way we do business.
